EMPATHY
Being an effective teacher in any subject requires the teacher to be able to see things through the eyes of the student's. During the interview, we look for the trait, a genuine interest in others perspectives.
SUBJECT MASTERY
When hiring a tutor, one of the most important things we look for is evidence of subject knowledge. We then take it one step further and give all candidates an up to date test in the specified subject(s) to show they can do what is required for the subject syllabus.

EXPERIENCE
We believe at Alpha that experience begins somewhere. Although we will always look kindly on people with a history in tutoring, we do not look down on accepting people with little to no history tutoring as long as they can pass our admission stages. Candidates with little history are shadowed and have in depth training.
PASSION
The best students and teachers have passion. Therefore as part of our hiring process, we require all candidates to tell us about something they are passionate about no matter the passion.
